Since its formation in 2017 as the shared Local Authority Building Control Service for Mole Valley, Reigate & Banstead and Tandridge councils, we have developed an excellent reputation for our service.  When you join Southern Building Control Partnership you are part of a supportive team working in an area of Surrey which combines areas of outstanding natural beauty with diverse, changing towns.

About the role

We are looking for a Registered Building Inspector to join our team as we meet the opportunities arising from the recent introduction of the Building Safety Act and the updated Building Regulations.

You will be joining a team with a wide range of experience who thrive in supporting each other to ensure every member reaches their personal goals.

Responsibilities include 

  • Determination and inspection of building regulations applications in line with your registered competency.
  • Inspection of Dangerous Structures.
  • Responsibility for key Partner Accounts registered under the LABC Partner Scheme.
  • Attendance at the regular CPD events held at offices throughout the partnership area. 
  • Ensuring knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation is maintained.
  • Provide duty officer cover during office hours as part of a rota.
  • To investigate unauthorised building works and take appropriate action.
  • Support the development of our trainees.

Who we’re looking for

An experienced Building Control professional:

  • Educated to Degree Level 
  • Member of relevant professional body such as RICS, CABE, CIOB
  • General competency assessment such as BSCF, CABE or BCCA
  • Class 2 Registration with Building Safety Regulator
