A vacancy has arisen for a new Occupational Therapy Assistant Team Manager & Advanced Practitioner to join our fantastic Transition Team. 

About Us

The Transition Team, with offices based in Woking and Redhill, is a countywide service for young people aged between 14 and 25. We aim to give them the confidence and environment to control their life outcomes and aspirational goals that will support them into employment pathways, independent living and meaningful occupation.

Our overarching aim is to provide a smooth, well-planned transition into young adulthood for the families we support, ensuring that there is no one left behind.

About the Role  

In this role, you will support the Therapy Manager to continue to shape the growing Transition Therapy offer for the council. Underpinned with strength-based practice and personalised care there will be opportunities to create standardised pathways with the aim of improving consistent practice and quality of care.

You will support the day to day running of a busy and dynamic team, effectively prioritising daily challenges and expectations, line managing and supervising Occupational Therapists and supporting Surrey's "grow your own" ethos in advocating and supporting staff through the OT Apprenticeship.

Working alongside the wider team you will work collaboratively with stakeholders, specifically our community health partners, to draw on interdependencies and improve the clients journey through services.

The role of the Advanced Practitioner in the team requires you to have a manageable caseload alongside your operational and strategic tasks and to take a leading role in educating the OT team and wider team in the role and value of OT.

Our client group have a variety of needs which include; progressive physical disabilities, sensory processing difficulties, anxiety and emotional regulation difficulties, motor and perceptual skill difficulties and reduced opportunities of independence within functional life skills.

Your experience within the client group, transferable skills and innovative approach will work towards our aims of improving quality of life and increasing engagement in meaningful occupation of our client group whilst ensuring they are at the centre of their care and support.

You will have direct line management from an Occupational Therapist (Therapy Manager) who will ensure you are coached and mentored and your well being is paramount. In your application, we would love to hear about your; 

  • Professional qualification in Occupational Therapy and current registration with HCPC
  • Experience or lived experience with the client group
  • Working knowledge of Care Act legislation including a Safeguarding Adults
  • Experience of supervising qualified OT's
  • Experience / examples of service change / development / new initiative implementation
  • Commitment to your own professional development
