This key post is responsible for the effective leadership and management of waste and street-care services across the borough. This involves the oversight of daily refuse collection, recycling, green waste and trade waste operations; maximising recycling and the effective marketing of trade waste and green waste services to improve income generation.
The post-holder will also be responsible for managing street cleansing services, the depot and the DSO’s fleet of vehicles. In addition, the successful applicant will work with the Corporate Head of Environmental Services to put forward proposals for innovative new services and improving efficiency and financial performance.
Candidates must have sound experience of managing a waste management function within a local authority or commercial waste management contractor and a proven track record of delivering improvement. An ability to manage change is essential together with up to date technical knowledge of Waste and Recycling legislation.
