Tell us something we don’t know!
Runnymede Borough Council in north Surrey is looking for a Senior Marketing and Communications Officer who has enthusiasm and new ideas coupled with experience and a string of successes to impress us with.
We’re looking for someone with the confidence to explain why marketing is important, how it works and the best ways to use it to deliver our messages and increase engagement and revenue.
You’ll advise on marketing activity corporately alongside the Communications and Marketing Manager, develop programmes of work and share your professional judgement and experience.
In addition to this, you will have day to day responsibility for the Communications needs of several business units in the Council.
You should be able to demonstrate knowledge of campaign planning and show how you have supported teams or clients. Using evidence to shape activity, negotiating with senior colleagues and delivering strong outcomes with small budgets are central to our work, so be prepared to show how you have done this.
You’ll have experience of and the chance to work on web editing, paid and organic social media, content creation, publications, media relations and advertising. Brand management, corporate style guides, photography, video and internal communication are also on our minds and we will be looking to you to contribute ideas to how we can innovate in these areas too.
While we’re looking for an experienced practitioner who can give examples of how they have succeeded in the past, the Council supports specific training where needed.
We are a local authority, so knowledge of how councils work and the local government landscape would be useful, but first and foremost we need a professional marketer and/or communicator who can spot risks and opportunities, plan and execute projects effectively.
If you understand the importance of communications and marketing to protecting and enhancing the reputation of an organisation and would like to join us and put your skills and experience to work, apply now.
For an informal conversation, please call Peter Le Riche, Communications and Marketing Manager, on 01932 425503.
Please send your cover letter (four pages maximum) and CV demonstrating how you meet the requirements set out above and in the job description and person specification.
Your application documents will be assessed as a written test as part of the selection process to demonstrate the standard of your written work and ability to sell a product (that’s you!) so make it count.
Closing date: 16 June 2019
Interviews will be held week commencing: 27+ 28 July 2019
