We are currently seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Assistant Groundsperson to work in Runnymede’s flagship parks.
The main purpose of the role is to work with the rest of the parks team to ensure that high standards of maintenance and presentation are maintained and to deliver excellent customer service at our parks
You do not need to be experienced because the successful candidate will be trained and supported by more experienced staff, but you must be able to work independently, be self-motivated, honest and flexible. This may be the job for you if you are used to working outside all day and have experience of carrying out manual work. You will need to be prepared to work in all weather conditions and be able to work on your feet for the duration of the shift. Some aspects of the job are particularly physically demanding.
Duties will involve grass cutting, planting and pruning shrubs, preparing sports pitches and keeping the parks clean and tidy, including removing litter and cleaning changing rooms and toilets. After training, you will help check and test the safety of some of the facilities and keep proper records. You will have to liaise with the public so will need good communication skills and be able to interact with them in a polite and friendly manner.
You will need to hold at least a provisional UK driving license and be willing to undertake further training in order to operate the ride on tractors and buggies in the parks. You will also have the physical ability to undertake all of the duties associated with this role.
