Following a review, this exciting new role has been created to drive business transformation in Housing Benefits service. You would work collaboratively with the Head of Customer Services, ICT Revenues and Benefits to support service improvement- challenging existing service delivery models and championing new ideas to bring about positive improvements in service delivery and customer outcomes.
We are looking for an organised, self-motivated, adaptable and collaborative manager who has the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
You will be responsible for the day to day operational management of the Housing Benefits Team and deal with the more complicated aspects of administering of Housing Benefits and Council Tax Support, including Universal Credit, Subsidy returns and Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP). Previous experience of both Housing Benefits and Council Tax Support will be essential.
In addition, you will act as deputy for the Head of Customer Services, Revenues and Benefits and be responsible for completing government returns, complaints, Freedom of Information requests and National Fraud Initiative (NFI) data matching requests.
Experience in a previous management role is essential as you will be driving the team forward, developing individuals, managing performance and leading the development of a customer first culture whilst maintaining high collection rates.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with good numeracy, are necessary to deal with both internal and external enquiries. You must be IT literate, as you will be required to use computerised systems.
