The District Council’s Network represents 200 district councils from across England to provide a single national voice for district councils within the LGA, Central Government and national bodies. We are seeking a talented, ambitious engagement officer with a can- do attitude who will have the opportunity to see the inside workings of both national and local government.

As part of our small office team, this varied role incorporates project and diary management, liaison with ministers’ offices and providing support for the DCN events; including our Chief Executive and member board meetings, the DCN National Conference and Assemblies, a staff development programme and other important meetings and seminars.

The ability to juggle multiple demands, take ownership of tasks and manage time effectively is key. As the first point of contact for the organisation you will have excellent communication and organisational skills and a confident approach to liaising with senior officials and leaders within the public sector. You will also build and monitor relationships with our key external partners including sponsors and think- tanks.

The job is based in Westminster, London and is offered as a permanent role; alternatively we would be very happy to receive applications from council employees on a secondment basis. For an informal discussion about this exciting opportunity please contact Matthew Hamilton, Director of DCN, on 0207 664 3049.

Shortlisted Candidates will need to be available for interview on the afternoon of 15 April.
