£38,888 per annum for 36 hours per week based at County Hall, Kingston Upon Thames. This position is based inside one of our main area offices, click HERE to see a 360 degree view of the building and surrounding area along with a view of the reception.

About the Role

We want to expand and consolidate our successful in house childcare legal team. We have opportunities within our children’s social care team for both PS10 Lawyer roles. You could be a newly qualified lawyer, someone with little or lots of experience – either in the private or public sector, looking to develop their career in Local Government. We recognise transferable skills and have a track record of supporting lawyers to retrain in this rewarding area.

We seek flexible, motivated and ambitious colleagues to join the team, which has been working in partnership with legal services in Brighton & Hove City Council, East Sussex County Council and West Sussex County Council as Orbis Public Law. The vision is to create ‘A single, resilient, sustainable cost effective legal service with a public service ethos with an ability and ambition to grow’. As a 10 lawyer you will contribute to the future delivery of a first class legal services across the partnership.

This partnership creates one of the largest public sector legal services in the UK and presents unrivalled opportunities to share our knowledge, experience and understanding across teams and Authorities.

You’ll be as passionate as we are about working as part of a team that delivers timely, clear and effective legal advice, representation and assistance to the Council, its partner authorities and clients served by Orbis Public Law. You will be trained and supported to undertake advocacy commensurate with your experience and alongside this will hold a quality caseload of child protection cases.
