Spelthorne Borough Council is recruiting a Family Support Coordinator to support and develop its work with refugees as per the Government’s Vulnerable Person’s Relocation (VPR) Scheme. The post holder will support families in Elmbridge and Epsom and Ewell Borough Councils and will have as a main base, Elmbridge Civic Centre.
Applicants must be able to speak, read and write in Arabic to a professional level and have an understanding of relevant cultural issues. They must also have a relevant qualification and/or professional experience in one of the following areas: child or adult social care, safeguarding, health, education, housing, youth work or work with parents.
Strong empathy and communication skills are imperative and the successful candidate will be required to quickly build trust and rapport; helping families to integrate, become independent and move productively forward. Applicants will be passionate, assertive, transparent, flexible, committed to equality of opportunity, highly organised and committed to multi-agency working, with strong skills in assessment and intervention.
