Our purpose built open-plan offices have recently been refurbished. We are located opposite the Sports Centre which offers a swimming pool, sports hall, gym, aerobics studio and café and Dorking Halls, which provides a range of facilities including a café, cinema, theatre and concerts.
About our team
We cover a variety of different functions within our team: we provide support to elected Members and the Council’s decision making processes, we run all types of elections and referenda as well as providing the Council’s electoral registration services and we oversee Mole Valley’s emergency planning and business continuity functions. Additionally, the team runs the council’s corporate print and postal services.
There will never be a dull moment working in our team and being flexible and supporting each other is vital to our successful way of working.

About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic self starter to join our high performing and busy Democratic & Electoral Services Team.
Whist the primary focus will be on the organisation of the Council’s monthly Development Control Committee, you will be required to support a number of the Council’s working groups, giving you a real insight into the decision making process.
To support our elected members, you will be responsible for providing a high level of administrative support, be this through processing expense claims or further developing the Member Online Support System.
You will be required to help deliver all elections and support the electoral registration processes and could also be required to support our busy Emergency Planning and Resilience Officer, in ensuring that we are prepared for any emergency situations we may face.
You will be provided with on the job training and there will also be the opportunity for further development.
This is a politically restricted role.
We are looking for a well organised and dynamic individual who will support the work of the team in a busy and interesting environment,
Educated to a degree standard or equivalent, ideally with a demonstrable knowledge of local government, the democratic decision making process and the UK electoral system. Past experience in Local Government or similar would be a great advantage.
