About the Role
This is a Surrey County Council role within the IT & Digital Service, part of the Orbis partnership initiative between Surrey County Council, East Sussex County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council.
Every business is a digital business. The Surrey County Council IT & Digital service plays a key role in the modernisation of public services and supports the delivery of continuous improvements to quality and efficiency. The Digital Programmes and Architecture Teams sit within the Strategy & Engagement group and take a lead role in partnering with the council's varied departments, pushing the boundaries of existing council service design to create an exceptional experience for residents with technology and data at the heart of the design.
In 2018 Surrey embarked on a major 3 year Transformation Programme of all key council services and the IT & Digital Service is delivering the technology that will enable the Council to transform in a Digital age. We are now looking for an influential, analytical and passionate person to develop and own the digital architecture for the council, working with services to design and deliver solutions that meet our strategic aims.
More than a traditional architect, you will be an ambassador for innovation within the organisation, responsible for delivering the architecture for digital solutions by working with customers and partners in multi-disciplinary teams of Digital Consultants, Developers and Technical Specialists. This will involve taking an active role within strategy development, planning and projects to inspire business transformation, in a role that is very much ‘front of house’. In supporting this, you will be responsible for leading aspects of innovative design concepts, product development and the alignment of strategic and tactical delivery.
Keeping abreast of digital trends, you will be responsible for creating innovative architectural designs that make the best use of that latest products, platforms and developments across a range of exciting markets.
The post requires strong influencing skills and the ability to build and bring together relationships with a multitude of council services and disciplines. To fill this pivotal role, we're looking for collaborative worker with enthusiasm, determination and resourcefulness to bring fresh thinking and drive new ideas.
To be shortlisted for interview your application should clearly evidence:
- Experience of delivering innovation and business change to organisations.
- High-level of understanding in the application of digital trends to deliver change in customer, workplace or data services.
- Strong analytical and architectural skills evidenced through appropriate qualifications (e.g. TOGAF) with experience of delivering architecture at the Enterprise level.
- Experience of matrix management or working within a formal project/programme framework
- Specific domain experience, in particular Business, Data or Application.
