About the Role
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and committed Senior Support Worker to join our Short Breaks team at Surrey Choices to be based in a new, purpose-built site in Woking from Early 2025. We are currently working in partnership with Surrey County Council to deliver on their vision for quality Short Breaks for people with Learning Disabilities and Complex Needs, through the development of two state of the art, purpose built overnight services.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager to oversee the daily running of the respite service for people with disabilities. You will lead shifts to support the staff team, providing formal and informal supervision for Support Workers. You will ensure compliance with the day-to-day delivery of the service, whilst promoting a high level of person-centred support so that all individuals using the service are treated with dignity and respect, and that their independence and choices are actively promoted by a wide range of engaging activities. The successful candidate will work within the requirements of relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks and ensure that all practices within the respite service actively promote the vision and values of Surrey Choices.
You will be working flexibly over a seven-day period: with a mixture of shifts varying between long-days (7:30-20:15 pm), late shifts (14-20:15 pm), and an early shift (7:30-14:15pm). You will also be required to work every other weekend and there may be occasional sleep in duties required as part of the role.
What we would like from you:
- Previous experience of working with adults or children with disabilities
- Good knowledge of CQC’s Regulatory Framework and obligations under the Care Act
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Competent IT and electronic record keeping skills
- Flexible approach to the requirements of a 24hr service. Shift working required 7am to 9pm, Monday to Sunday.
- Ability to lead by example and develop the team
- A positive attitude towards change and continuous improvement
- Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Level 3 or willingness to work towards is desirable but not essential)
- Previous supervisory experience is desirable but not essential
