Chef Assistant
About the Role
Epsom & Ewell Borough Council is looking to appoint a motivated and reliable Assistant Chef to support the delivery of high-quality catering services within the Community & Wellbeing Centre.
This is a practical, hands-on role responsible for assisting with the preparation, cooking and service of food to a high standard, ensuring excellent customer service and maintaining strict food hygiene and health & safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, cooking and presentation of meals
- Support the day-to-day operation of the Community Wellbeing Kitchen
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety and compliance
- Monitor and complete food hygiene records in line with legislation
- Support stock control, minimise waste and assist with ordering
- Provide clear allergen and dietary information to customers
- Assist the Catering Hub Manager and deputise where required
- Support and guide staff and volunteers where necessary
You will:
- Have experience working within a catering or hospitality environment
- Hold a Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 3 desirable, or willingness to obtain)
- Have knowledge of food safety and health & safety practices
- Be able to work efficiently under pressure and to deadlines
- Demonstrate good communication and customer service skills
- Be a positive and flexible team player
