Planning Enforcement Officer
At Epsom & Ewell, we aspire to deliver high quality services to our residents. We might be small, but we have big plans to serve our population of 80,000 residents.
The Council is looking for an experienced and dedicated Planning Enforcement Officer, to be based within the Development Management Team, reporting to the Head of Development Management and Planning Enforcement. You will act as the Council’s principal advisor on enforcement matters and will be expected to enforce the Council’s decisions on planning matters and undertake investigations with regard to contraventions of planning regulations.
Working closely with other colleagues, you will be responsible for advising Members, developers and residents on issues relating to planning enforcement.
You will have a good understanding of the planning process and proven experience of undertaking investigative work.
You must also have a proven track record of managing your own workload, report writing, working successfully to tight deadlines, and with minimum supervision. Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be interacting with Members, the general public, external agencies and public bodies, together with an ability to work effectively as part of a busy and committed team. You must also be able to exhibit proven negotiation skills, have a flexible approach to work and cope with the work demands in a methodical and a calm manner.
If you have enthusiasm and determination to deliver a first-class service then we would like to hear from you.
In return, we offer excellent office accommodation five minutes’ walk from Epsom railway station, heavily subsidised parking if needed, and an attractive salary. You will work with a team of strong and committed colleagues, benefit from 25 days annual leave (rising to 30 after 5 years’ service), subsidised gym membership, payment of professional fees, and entitlement to join the local government pension scheme.
