£22,233 per annum for 36 hours per week based at Quadrant Court, 35 Guildford Road, Woking, GU22 7QQ. This position is based inside one of our main area offices, click HERE to see a 360 degree view of the building and surrounding area along with a view of the reception. 

This is a 6 month fixed term contract until 27 June 2019. If you are applying for an internal secondment, you must seek your line managers approval prior to applying.

About the Role

We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic individual to join our Deputyship team. The team acts as Corporate Appointee and Deputy, managing the finances of Surrey residents where appropriate. The Finance Assistant (Appointeeship) is a key administrator in supporting appointeeship applications to the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) for vulnerable residents lacking the capacity to manage their own money.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the submission of welfare benefit claims on behalf of the Council. The role will work closely with other colleagues in the Deputyship Team and the wider service to ensure that we act in the best interests of people receiving support to manage their finances.

As the successful candidate you will be the main point of contact with the DWP, dealing with all routine correspondence and communicating changes in circumstances on time. You will put in place suitable arrangements to ensure payment of personal allowances to residents, in consultation with colleagues and providers. Knowledge of the Welfare Benefits system would be an advantage but training will also be given. We are looking for someone with excellent administration skill and, keen attention to detail as well as commitment and flexibility.
