Driver for private ambulance
Do you enjoy driving but are looking for something slightly different?
We are in the process of rebuilding Guildford Crematorium in order to better meet the needs of bereaved families. Due to restrictions on where we can build, the new building will be constructed almost entirely on the existing building footprint. As a result we now have interim Chapel and office facilities onsite so that we can continue providing a service to families whilst the new crematorium is being built.
As part of these interim arrangements, our Bereavement Services team is looking for caring, compassionate drivers to assist with the transfer of the deceased in their coffin, by private ambulance from the Chapel to the Crematory. This involves, maneuvering the coffin in and out of the ambulance with the assistance of a colleague and machinery and then driving the ambulance off site for a short distance to the Crematory.
You will need to be available to work between the hours of 9.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday and possibly an occasional Saturday but your actual hours worked will be varied and based around funeral service requirements.
Key skills and requirements:-
- Full, clean driving license and excellent driving skills
- Smart and professional in appearance (uniform, protective clothing will be provided)
- Manual handling capacity of up to 60kg with the assistance of machinery
- A respectful and sensitive manner
- Compliance with the ICCM Charter for the Bereaved and FBCA Code of Practice
- Experience in bereavement services desirable but not essential
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Ability to comply with operational procedures and service standards
You will be paid at a rate of £9 per hour, which includes an allowance for holiday pay.
