We are currently seeking two proactive and enthusiastic Groundsman to work at Runnymede’s parks to support the Senior Park Supervisor. One role will be based at Victory Park in Addlestone and the other at Chertsey Recreational Ground, Chertsey.

You must be a skilled and experienced groundsman with a clear understanding of the maintenance of bowling greens, cricket squares and other playing surfaces. The successful candidates must also be happy to train and assist in developing the Assistant Groundsman and Sports Turf Apprentice. The main duties of this role is to ensure that the standards of presentation and service delivery prescribed by the Council are maintained to a high standard.        

Other duties of the role will involve keeping the parks clean and tidy, including cleaning the changing rooms, public toilets, cutting grass and pruning plants and bushes. Some testing of facilities and record keeping is also involved. You will be required to have excellent communication skills and be able to liaise with the public in a polite and friendly manner.

You should have the ability to work alone at times, be self-motivated, honest and flexible. This may be the job for you if you have experience of working outside all day and experience of carrying out manual work. You will need to be prepared to work in all weather conditions and be able to work on your feet for the duration of the shift. Some aspects of the job are particularly physically demanding.
