We are ambitious and have a growth and regeneration agenda with plans to build 11,000 new council homes in the borough, in addition, major regeneration programmes are underway including the town centre regeneration in Elephant and Castle. This project alone will encompass a mixture of major commercial and residential buildings and be valued at over three-billion pounds.
In this Senior Management role, you will be commercially aware andsupport the Head of Building Control in delivering an effective service, helping to achieve Southwark Council’s Business Plan and corporate objectives.
Predominantly you will be a technical specialist in tall and complex buildings and will assess plans and attend regular design and site meetings with clients to discuss and inspect what are often leading edge and innovative construction solutions. You will play a primary role in ensuring our performance standards, resources, and income are sufficient to sustain a world class building control service.
As one of Southwark’s lead technical experts, you will be RICS, CABE, IStructE, IMechE, RIBA, IFE, CIAT,ICE or CIOB qualified and be able to evidence continual professional development. You will also have experience of working with Tier 1 developers on high risk, high-rise and complex buildings.
Management experience would also be advantageous in this role, however it is not essential for someone with the right technical background.
