Runnymede Borough Council is seeking Casual Passenger Assistants to work within its Community Transport Service. We are looking for committed, self- motivated people to provide valuable services to many Runnymede residents.

Runnymede Borough Council undertakes a range of transport contracts, providing services to a number of children and adults with physical disabilities, learning difficulties and sensory impairments.

 

The role of the Passenger Assistant involves working together with the Driver in order to deliver timely, safe and secure transport service to all individuals within a pre-defined route. The Passenger Assistants primary purpose is to ensure that the needs of the individual passengers are met whilst travelling and to be able to respond to passengers as required, enabling the Driver to concentrate on the safe driving of the vehicle.

 

You will need to be a people person and be able to confidently build a rapport with all passengers, whilst maintaining a professional relationship at all times. You will be of a patient and understanding disposition and have a friendly and helpful nature. You will also be the link between passenger’s next of kin, schools, other establishments and the Community Transport service.

 

Passenger Assistants are required throughout the year five days a week. Full training will be provided to support you in undertaking the role. As a Casual positions, work will be available on an as and when basis dependent on service requirements and availability of individual staff members, therefore the position allows for flexibility in regards to the commitment. Please note that due to the nature of the role, all casual positions will be subject to a satisfactory DBS check.
