What makes planning at Elmbridge different?

Elmbridge is located within Surrey, approximately 17 miles south-west of Central London.  The River Thames is the borough’s northern boundary and we share borders with the London Boroughs of Richmond and Kingston upon Thames and Guildford, Mole Valley, Runnymede, Spelthorne and Woking.  Elmbridge is fortunate to have a wide network of open space including 800 ha of green and blue infrastructure owned and managed by the Council. We also have the historic landscaped gardens at Painshill Park and Claremont.

The Planning and Environmental Health teams at Elmbridge are supported by a service wide Business Support Team. This team is made up of talented, passionate people, determined to do their best work for Elmbridge. The team cover a varied workload including Land Charges.

We are looking to recruit a Land Charges technical officer who can support the current Senior Land Charges officer in the day-to-day processing of applications coming into the Council. Experience in this work would be desirable, however, not essential as we provide a full training programme.

You will need to be enthusiastic, proactive and have good attention to detail. As you would expect, excellent communication skills are important, as well as the ability to remain calm with customers who may be angry or upset.  Your ability to understand and clearly explain complex rules will be important.

Elmbridge is one of the busiest local planning authorities in the country and sets very high standards for the delivery of planning decisions within Government targets.  With land values that rival London and a population of 135,000, we will provide you with an interesting and challenging step in your career.
