Are you looking for the exciting next step in your career as an Executive Assistant?

Would you relish the opportunity to provide EA support to a Chief Executive and senior leadership team for a busy and fast-paced Council with a commitment to delivering high quality services, continued improvement and providing value for money in achieving its priorities?

Can you bring your skills, experience and enthusiasm to a role where you are at the heart of keeping the Council running smoothly.

If so, this role is for you.

About the role

Tandridge is an attractive, mainly rural, district in Surrey.  Our priorities are:

  • Protecting and enhancing our environment.
  • Delivering affordable housing for local people.
  • Financial prudence and sustainability.
  • Putting residents at the heart of what we do.
  • A safe, healthy and caring community supporting those most in need.
  • A thriving economy.

The Chief Executive and senior leadership team are friendly and approachable, but committed to delivering services and improving the Council.  As Executive Assistant, you will be a key member of the team and play a crucial part in achieving our objectives.

Working closely with the Chief Executive, senior leadership team and other stakeholders, you will manage busy schedules, coordinate meetings and events, ensure actions are completed and communicate to staff and Councillors.

You will manage the Chief Executive’s calendar and inbox, fielding queries, responding where possible and working proactively to ensure that deadlines are met.  You will provide other members of the senior leadership team with EA support when needed.

The Council takes a proactive approach to learning and development and will give you the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge to make the most of the role.

You are likely to get involved in a number of Council-wide initiatives, including transformation and digital projects, performance management, team development and other corporate activities.  These wider initiatives will give you plenty of opportunity to develop your skills and further your career.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who can deliver the Executive Assistant role with enthusiasm, discretion and a keen eye for detail.  Your skills will include organisation, planning, proactivity and resourcefulness.  You will be calm under pressure, flexible and able to balance competing priorities.

Experience of the public sector is not essential.  The Council is a busy, complex and challenging organisation, but your transferrable skills and experience are more important than a background in local government.

A full role profile and essential requirements are provided.

What we Offer

When you join us your expertise, skills and experience will be valued and your career development will be our priority.

We are committed to creating a collaborative and innovative environment which empowers you to thrive. You will be part of a friendly, supportive One Team culture with the chance to make a real difference.

We believe in balancing hard work with fun. Our active social team organises two to three events a year, ranging from Staff Awards, quiz nights to rounders in the park helping the workplace to be productive and enjoyable.

We use Viva Engage to keep you connected and engaged and we hold regular face to face meetings, such as Chief Executive briefings to keep you in the loop.

We are conveniently located close to Oxted Station and have some free on-site parking.

In addition to the stated pay, we offer membership and contributions towards the Local Government Pension Scheme, hybrid working, flexi-time, payment of a relevant professional subscription and access to a discounted health scheme.
