House to House Canvasser
Do you have the drive and some spare time to canvass properties as part of our annual registration canvass? If so, we would like to hear from you.
We are looking for enthusiastic, focussed and friendly canvassers to help us with the annual compilation of the Register of Electors. This forms an important part of maintaining democracy and the right to vote at elections and referenda.
From the beginning of August numerous correspondence is being sent to all households in the Borough to collect or confirm information on the people living at the property who are entitled to register to vote. For some of those properties within the Borough you will be required to make a personal visit to the property where no response has been received.
The role
You will be required to visit all properties assigned to you. You will have two specific visits to make:
- To visit non- responding properties in order to obtain a response on the doorstep. You will be given access to an electronic tablet to complete the process. You will also be required to provide assistance and guidance to the householder.
- To encourage and assist with registering any new residents using the electronic tablet. This will ensure any new residents are added to the register of electors as soon as possible.
Compulsory training will be provided, and you will receive additional payment for travel and mobile phone expenses. Access to a mobile phone is essential as canvassing involves lone working and your safety is of paramount importance to us.
Accuracy, an eye for detail and good customer service skills are essential for the role.
Time Period
Work should be completed in your own time, and for best results, in evenings and weekends. The house visits will take place between Tuesday 5 November and Monday 2 December 2024.
Payment
You will be paid a rate for each property you visit and a higher rate for each property you receive a response from. You will also be paid a rate if you assist a resident in registering to vote. Typically, you can earn anywhere between £450 and £600.
Applicants
You should know that,
- we can only accept applications from persons who are not connected to, nor will assist any political party;
- you must be aged 18+;
- you have the right to work in the UK.
