Part time Permanent

Customer and Case Services are looking to a recruit a new Case Worker to the Housing and Repairs team. Our case workers provide key business support to our specialists across Housing Services.  Initially the primary need for this vacancy is to support our Repairs Team, but where we can facilitate it, cross training opportunities may arise in the future.

Our housing and repairs team are always busy helping current and potential future tenants with a wide variety of enquiries. Including rent, allocations, housing register and homelessness. This role provides direct support to council tenants, who are reporting a repair or fault at their property.  You must understand the issues they are reporting, trying where possible to help them resolve simple issues themselves but always providing access to tradespeople when a fault needs a repair and getting our tenants the help, they need to keep properties safe and secure. We deal with everything from dripping taps to badly damaged properties in need of extensive repairs. 

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Provide direct support to customers on the telephone and through correspondence.
  • Assess and process housing repairs work on our Orchard system.
  • Update changes to repairs work jobs.
  • Liaise and work flexibly with our Housing Repairs Team and contractors.
  • Work effectively with other specialist teams across the council. 
  • Process invoices, liaising with contractors, answering enquiries. 
  • Providing updates to customers and prioritising jobs in conjunction with the Team Leader and caseworkers looking after repairs.

 

What you need to succeed in this role:

  • A proactive approach, with strong administrative skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with people.
  • Conscientious attitude and attention to detail.
  • A good standard of numeracy and literacy.
  • IT skills are essential, knowledge of any housing software such as Orchard would be beneficial.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to take the initiative
