About the role
The Head of Assets is responsible for asset and facilities management for an ambitious council with a diverse portfolio. This includes managing and maximising the Council’s investment, operational, community and other assets and oversight of the team responsible for delivering the housing development programme.
You will be responsible for ensuring the Council takes advantage of opportunities for inward investment in its assets, infrastructure and amenities and ensuring proper arrangements are in place to deliver regeneration schemes and other asset or infrastructure programmes.
You will also ensure the Council has a clear and consistent commercial property strategy.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Strategic use of the General Fund asset portfolio.
- Housing development.
- Regeneration projects.
- Facilities management.
- Garage management.
- Inward investment and bid coordination.
- Project delivery, e.g. physical infrastructure works to toilets, amenities, etc.
- Ownership of the Council's commercial property strategy.
- Management of commercial investment properties.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for a Chartered Surveyor with a background in commercial asset management. Applicants must be experienced in leasing, acquisitions, disposals, rent reviews and lease renewals.
Experience in facilities management, development and project management is also desirable.
Previous employment with a council would be an advantage.
The job needs someone used to managing an internal team and professional consultants, who can give strategic direction on property matters and can confidently present to council leadership and councillors.
This is a senior role and you will be expected to demonstrate and exemplify our values and behaviours.
You should be an excellent communicator with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences and work well with other teams. Collaborative and personable, you are good at building positive working relationships and influencing at all levels of the organisation
You will also be a member of our Extended Management Team, which works together to support the Chief Executive to lead, support and deliver:
- The transformation of the Council, underpinned by the Corporate Plan.
- Service planning and delivery.
- Organisational development – culture, values and behaviours.
What we offer
The salary for Head of Assets is £67k to £75k.
