We have a great opportunity for a Legal Assistant to join our growing and collaborative in-house legal team. This role would be ideal for an individual looking to gain some legal experience or possibly returning to work with an interest in law after a career break.

The Legal Services Department provides a broad range of comprehensive legal support to all the Council’s departments and Members. Roles range from Legal Assistant to Senior Solicitor.

About the role

The position is a fixed term of one year and you will respond to requests from internal customers using the systems, processes and workflows in place.

In your role as Legal Assistant, you will assist in the core areas of legal work dealt with by Legal Services, including property, planning, contract, and data protection.

You will be line managed by a Senior Lawyer, supported by lawyers, and work closely with other Legal Assistants in the team.

We are looking for an individual who can work well under pressure delivering a 'can do' and high-quality support service in an area where attention to detail is critical but knowing that you'll be part of a friendly and supportive team.

We are a busy team, often working to tight deadlines so high personal standards and an ability to work under pressure and prioritise work will be essential. This is an excellent opportunity to start or build on your experience to date and will provide you with an insight into a number of legal disciplines in a diverse organisation.
