Come join our Planning Enforcement Team.

This is a great opportunity to be involved in ensuring high quality development is in line with approved plans and ensuring breaches of planning control is regularised. This will ensure the beautiful nature of our rural District is maintained and enhance which is in east Surrey, bordering Kent and the London Boroughs to the north. We are a Green Belt authority with two National Landscapes in the District.

The Role

As a Senior Enforcement Officer, you will investigate and resolve breaches of planning control on some of the more complex cases. This will need to draw on your experience and knowledge of planning legislation in dealing with sensitive and difficult situations. The Senior Enforcement Officer will report to the Enforcement Manager who will be there to support and provide guidance to you. You will need to be able to work on your own initiative in dealing with your caseload. This is a crucial part of the Enforcement Team to uphold confidence in the planning system. There is a wide variety of cases to investigate so it is an excellent opportunity to broaden your experience and skill base.

What are we looking for

Somone who is passionate about protecting our countryside and ensuring high quality development, using the tools that are open to a local authority to monitor and enforce breaches. You will have demonstrable experience of effectively managing enforcement cases from initial investigation through to appeal if necessary.  You will be proactive and a good communicator, who is able to work effectively alone and as part of a team.
