We’re re-energising our Democratic Services Team here at Waverley and have an exciting new post of Executive and Scrutiny Advisor. You will have demonstrable experience in a local authority democratic services role, including experience of clerking/supporting the Executive, undertaking research and report writing for Overview & Scrutiny Committees and organising the Forward Plan.
You will:
- Operationally deliver Executive Briefing meetings and take a lead role on Overview and Scrutiny Committee meetings
- Deliver the Forward Plan process
- Provide constitutional and administrative advice to internal and external meetings
- Grow and develop our use of the Modern.gov system
We’re looking for:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an understanding of working within a political environment, but most importantly, you will be a pro-active, dynamic, inspiring officer who can help us do things better.
- Someone self-motivated and able to demonstrate how you have delivered improvements in governance elsewhere, your workload will be varied, and you will need to be flexible about which meetings you cover, which will mostly be in the evenings.
- You to be capable of working well on your own and as a supportive member of a team.
- You to be adaptable to the task in hand and willing to learn.
- You to be a seasoned user of the Modern.gov Committee Management System
- Demonstrable confidence to make process improvement suggestions where necessary.
Agile Working:
- This is a hybrid role with attendance expected at evening meetings in Godalming, Surrey.
Hours per week and working pattern
- 37 hours: Full or Part time applications accepted.
