Are you a motivated individual looking to make a real impact by taking on new challenges whilst developing your project management skills? If so, we want to hear from you!

We’re hiring a Programme Coordinator to join a friendly team dedicated to managing and developing the council’s Improvement and Recovery Plan (IRP). The post is offered on a 12 month fixed term contract and we welcome possible secondment opportunities.

Woking is facing a financial challenge on a scale which is unprecedented.  However, we have been working effectively with Commissioners in developing an Improvement and Recovery Plan (IRP), which will transform the council, putting in place the appropriate systems, processes and skills to ensure the effective management of the Council in the future.

This role is integral to the Council’s response to the Government intervention and to ensuring that the Improvement and Recovery Board operates effectively and is at the heart of transforming the council. Woking is in a unique ‘turnaround’ position which – whilst clearly challenging – also provides a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate, motivated by the opportunity to make a real and tangible impact.

This post will provide programme co-ordination for the Improvement and Recovery programme including managing all reporting to the Improvement and Recovery Board (IRB) and ensuring the programme costs are effectively managed and estimated.  This post will also project manage the Governance and Assurance Theme within the IRP, and other projects within the improvement plan.

The post sits within the Programme Management Office, a supportive and friendly team, where individuals are supported to develop their project management skills and take on new challenges.

In return, the Council offers a generous flexi time scheme with the ability to take two flexi days a month, membership of the local government pension scheme, discounted health and leisure membership, plus many more excellent benefits.
