- Do your skills include working with officers and councillors, including the Mayor of the Borough providing administrative support to the team, and the Mayor, including support for meetings and Mayoral engagements?

We’re re-energising our Democratic Services Team here at Waverley and have an exciting new post of Local Democracy Assistant. You will bring transferable organisational skills to the team and provide support for the democratic services team and the Mayor. You’ll also be leading on the webcasting of our meetings for which you’ll need good IT skills and an eye for detail.

You will:

- Provide administrative support to the democratic services team, together with support for the Mayor

- Lead on the Council’s approach to webcasting its meetings and administration of our Modern.gov (CIVICA) system, including publication of decision notices

- Grow within the team and take on clerking and support meetings as required over time.

 

We’re looking for:

- Excellent written, organisational and administrative skills together with an understanding of working within a political environment

- Someone flexible about which meetings and Mayoral engagements you support, which could be in the evenings.

- You to be capable of working well on your own and as a supportive member of a team.

- You to be adaptable to the task in hand and willing to learn, with demonstrable confidence and the willingness to grow into the role. 

- Be a seasoned user of Office IT packages, youtube and Zoom

 

Agile Working: 

This is a hybrid role with attendance expected at meetings in Godalming, Surrey.

Hours per week and working pattern

  • 37 hours: Full or Part time applications accepted.
