Our Housing Team is a busy, thriving team which is constantly working towards providing homes for our community.

As a Housing Allocations Officer, you will ensure that suitable allocations to social, private sector, temporary and supported housing are made within the appropriate timescales and in accordance with legislative requirements, local policies and procedures. This will include creating and checking advertisements for the Council’s Choice Based Lettings Scheme website.  You will be responsible for liaising with Housing Associations regarding potential vacancies to be advertised by the Council and subsequent nominations with associated administration.

You will also be dealing with enquiries from applicants, by phone, email and in person; providing an excellent level of customer service. You need to be highly organised; able to prioritise your workload and keep accurate records, using the Council’s Housing I.T system.

The ability to interpret and communicate complex information is essential as is being adaptable, caring, sympathetic and able to work to deadlines.

You will also have an understanding of the needs of clients with mental health problems, complex needs, learning disabilities, substance misuse and/or vulnerable people.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to become part of the team. Experience of working in a busy environment with competing priorities and tight timescales is essential.  The post also includes carrying out visits to people in their own homes and other locations therefore a full, clean driving licence is required. 

As this job involves contact with vulnerable groups including children, successful applicants will be required to obtain a Disclosure Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Assistance will be given by the Council and further details will be in the job application pack.
