Project Engineer (Civil)
We would like to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Engineer with a formal engineering related qualification (or the equivalent knowledge gained from work experience) with practical engineering experience in one or more of the following job-related fields: drainage, car parks, corporate property maintenance and street furniture. You will join a small team which organises and arranges maintenance to the Councils assets and infrastructure, keeping them in a good state of repair and Health and Safety compliant.
On a typical day, you would:
- Take calls from the public on flooding and drainage issues, directing them to the statutory authority responsible.
- Supervise and liaise with contractors in carrying out day to day repairs and tendered projects.
- Carry out site maintenance inspections.
- Carry out capital and revenue funded works which would include: preparing drawings, specifications, schedules and tendering
- Project manage small and medium sized contracts.
- Provide expertise and advice to other sections to ensure a best practice approach consistent with Council policy

To succeed in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Good communication skills, which you will utilise with other council employees, Councillors, external organisations and contractors.
- Good technical knowledge and management skills.
- Experience of preparing tenders and managing projects.
You will also need to be available to participate in the on-call rota to answer questions over the phone, including at weekends and on bank holidays.
