Collections Officer

Salary:  £29,028 - £31,390 pro rata

14.4 hours per week

Elmbridge Museum is seeking to appoint a part-time fixed-term Collections Officer to support in managing our collection of c.43,000 objects dating from the Stone Age to the present-day.

The post holder will be responsible for managing housekeeping procedures across two off-site storage facilities and working within Accreditation policies and plans to improve documentation standards. They will work collaboratively with colleagues in the museum team to prepare objects for photography and for display in the community and advise on handling, packaging and audit procedures for the forthcoming store move.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a varied local authority collection and take an active role in its preservation and documentation. We are looking for candidates with experience of best practice in collections management, excellent attention to detail and proficiency in using collections management systems. The successful candidate will have strong organisational skills and a passion for using objects to bring local history to life. You will need a flexible approach to work and a full driving license to enable travel to off-site stores.
