Are you flexible and highly motivated? Do you enjoy working in a busy, ever-changing environment?

The Independent Living Team is responsible for Spelthorne’s Older People’s Services, including Centres, Meals on Wheels Services, Social Prescribing and Disabled facilities Grants.

You will be based at Staines Community Centre, but also provide cover across all 3 Centres in Spelthorne providing a range social and physical activities for older people. Your tasks will vary from working in the kitchen to running Centres with no on-site supervision and driving our Meals on wheels.

This is a fulfilling role that requires the ability to think on your feet, communicate well with others and be adaptable to ever changing priorities. You will need to be enthusiastic and flexible in your approach to work. Your role will include working with older people who are often very vulnerable so you will need a caring disposition and must be able to remain calm in all circumstances. Excellent organisation and communication skills are essential for this post. Knowledge of health and safety and food hygiene regulations is desirable.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for customer facing posts.  These posts fall within the scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers.  The Council, therefore, has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
