As Applications Support Analyst – Product you’ll wear multiple hats, taking ownership of resident-facing digital solutions and internal workflow/reporting products. Your technical and product expertise will be crucial in improving user interfaces, integrating data with line-of-business systems, and occasionally automating processes. We're looking for someone who always acts in the best interests of the end user and is focused on enabling our services to best meet customer needs.

You will have a broad interest and experience across technical development, systems support and UX or interaction design with some advanced skills in at least one of these areas. Colleagues with technical specialism will support you in your role, however you will require experience using APIs, tactical databases and other integrations that underpin customer and staff platforms.

This is a newly created role, which will be key in delivering on the objectives of the Resident Services Programme; a £700k investment in people and technology to improve customer experience, data and optimise our services. It is an exciting time to join; 2024 will see the phased launch of our new website (LocalGovDrupal), completion of our consultant led data and AI discovery project and investment in our telephony and entire tech stack.

You will be working in conjunction with the Design Lead to deliver a high-quality user experience, including fit for purpose integrations, and high standards of accessibility, availability, usability, usefulness, and excellent standards of service. There will be opportunities to be involved in everything from user research and service design to product implementation and integration design.

Experience with products such as Granicus govService, P360, Mitel, Civica D360 or Capita (Academy or Open Housing) would be beneficial, as would experience of supporting Drupal websites.

Woking Borough Council is a small borough council, so the opportunity is to deliver whole service transformation influencing the entire organisation.  Though we don’t have scale, our small size means there is less internal bureaucracy, and greater autonomy.

The Council offers in return a flexi time scheme with the ability to take two flexi days a month, membership of the local government pension scheme, discounted health and leisure membership, plus many more excellent benefits. The team currently works in hybrid, with on average two days a week in the Civic Office.
