Network and Infrastructure Graduate Trainee

Starting salary range £26,196 to £44,576 per annum based on qualifications

Full time 36 hours

Spelthorne’s ICT department is a busy, friendly, and dynamic place to work.

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a graduate trainee to join our ICT team for our network and infrastructure officer role.

The successful candidate will gain a range of experience as well as being supported to achieve formal networking and infrastructure qualifications:

  • On the networking side, you will provided with external training for CCNA and then onto CCNP.
  • On the infrastructure side, you will provided with external training for Microsoft 365 Certified Administrator Expert and Microsoft Certified Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate as well as any related prerequisite courses.

Training will be fully funded, including any related travel expenses. Advancing within the role will be dependent on achieving the above certifications. Increments  to be awarded annually with progression beyond salary bars to be agreed by ICT Manager and in line with the required qualifications. As per the Council’s policy, imbursement will be required if the successful candidate were to withdraw or be dismissed from the course or resign from employment within two years after the end of the course.

Training will be undertaken during working hours, and some additional time will be given for study leave in preparation for the exams. Details of the progression will be provided on interview.

The Network and Infrastructure Officer is responsible for maintaining the network and IT infrastructure of Spelthorne Borough Council. This role involves ensuring the smooth operation, security, and availability of the organization's network systems, servers, and related technologies. The officer will report jointly to the Network & Security Manager and Infrastructure Manager, collaborating with both teams to support the efficient functioning of various departments and services within the authority.

This post is identified as a hybrid post supporting both office and home working in line with Spelthorne Borough Council’s policy. If home working is preferred, much of the role can be undertaken remotely and suitable equipment will be provided. However, staff are still contracted to work in on site, so it should be anticipated that you may be required to come to the office for a couple of days a week, or as required by the managers.

In return we can offer excellent conditions of service with a benefits package that includes flexible working hours, pension scheme, free parking and at least 23 days’ paid leave per year.

Please note as part of the employment checks this post will subject to a basic Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
