This role has a starting salary of £43,923 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week. This is a 24-month fixed term contract.

About the Team

The Change team is part of the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service which supports the council in achieving its ambitions for the benefit of Surrey residents. It drives transformation and organisation-wide cultural change empowering managers and colleagues to be their best selves at work.

The Change Team manages, supports, reports on and drives change projects across the services, aligned to our three priorities of Assets, People, Delivery of Services. Through successful delivery of projects, the team ensures that the service is focused on change that has a positive impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of the service, provides support and project expertise to the wider teams and enables a more open and transparent reporting mechanism through the programme framework.

About the Role

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service is responsible for delivering fire and rescue services in Surrey including fire safety advice for homes, schools, and businesses. Based within Reigate, this role is responsible for delivering projects from the scoping and researching stage through to implementation and enablement of benefits realisation across the Service.

There are a range of projects to be delivered within and across the Service, and the Data and Digital Project Manager will need to understand the journey of the Service to ensure that projects compliment the vision and objectives. You will establish strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels across the Service and Surrey County Council, working closely with the appointed sponsor(s). Your focus will be on continuous improvement and continually delivering high quality outcomes. You will be expected to work with a degree of autonomy and initiative to be able to reach the desired outcomes.

Shortlisting Criteria

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:

  • Formal project management qualification such as PRINCE2 or APM or ability to demonstrate equivalent experience
  • Experience of managing large and complex projects, if possible, also delivering digital projects
  • Strong communication skills with an open and honest approach and the ability to work with suppliers, support on the negotiations of contracts and day to day management of the relationship
  • A proactive approach and ability to look ahead for potential problems taking preventative or mitigating action in advance
  • Ability to understand complex organisational designs and structures and understands how to relate these to the project being managed

An enhanced DBS 'Disclosure and Barring Service' check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children's and Adults' Barred List checks will be required for this role.
