About Us
Our children's residential service in Surrey is dedicated to supporting children and young people with complex needs, especially when other settings are unable to. We take pride in our commitment to helping our most vulnerable children and young people and are serious about creating safe and nurturing homes for them.
In 2020 and 2021, Surrey County Council agreed to invest £34m on improving sufficiency for Looked After Children and £2.4m in increasing management capacity and upskilling our workforce, so young people in care as well as staff get the best environment in which to thrive. We are committed to continuing our work in providing support for children and young people in care, and our new Residential home is part of our placement sufficiency plans.
Our new home has 4 beds, is fully detached, and has free on-site parking for staff, providing care and support for young people with emotional and behavioural challenges. The home design incorporates green technology with modern building efficiency, and its location will mean children and young people can stay better connected to their local community
About the Role
As our Registered Manager you'll play a crucial role in creating a safe and supportive environment for our young people and staff. Your focus will be on ensuring that the home is a warm and welcoming place that meets Ofsted's high standards. Our working principles across the service are centred around creating a space where care is reliable and quality practice is upheld. We always ask ourselves questions like: "Would we be happy for our own child to live here?" and "What kind of adults do we want our young people to become?"
Managing risk for both the children and young people in our homes and the organisation are crucial elements of this role and you will lead on ensuring that everyone shares this consistent approach through the work they do in the home.
Shortlisting Criteria
We hope to find a warm, patient and collaborative leader who can demonstrate extensive professional knowledge and practical management experience either in a residential setting or more broadly from other backgrounds such as specialist teaching, social work, semi independent living or nursing care. As our Registered Manager you will be a strong advocate for your home, truly owning it and the best interests of the children, young people and staff within it.
We value multidisciplinary team working and we believe that building strong relationships with both staff and residents is crucial to understanding their needs and providing a safe and supportive environment. Underpinning what you do will be your excellent communication, IT and organisational skills, which coupled with a supportive, patient and open-minded attitude will enable you to achieve the best for your home and the children and young people we support.
