Occupational Therapist - Adults

The starting salary for this position is £39,355 per annum based on a 36-hour working week (pro-rata for part-time hours).

We currently have one full time (36 hours per week) and one part-time (24 hours per week) position available. The starting salary for the part-time position is £26,237 per annum.

Our 5 Steps Programme and its impact locally and across the UK, have resulted in two articles in the OT News Magazine (May 2020 and May 2021). Since publication, approximately 60 teams across the UK contacted our team to explore how this framework may be implemented to change their services and to manage the pressures of front-line work. Following the articles, we were also shortlisted in the LGC Awards 2021 for our contribution to the Health and Social Care sector.

Due to career progression we are now looking for enthusiastic, hardworking and empathetic Qualified Occupational Therapists to join our evolving, friendly and dynamic team.

You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of clients who have differing and/or complex needs by using a strength-based approach. Clients may be elderly and frail, experience a learning disability, physical or sensory impairment, or have mental ill health. This diverse role will facilitate your development and equip you with a large range of skills to enable you to undertake frontline holistic occupational therapy practice within a social care setting. You will have the opportunity to put into practice the legislation underpinning, and build your confidence and professional experience of specialist equipment, major adaptations and moving and handling risk assessments and intervention, with the aim of supporting and empowering our clients to live meaningful lives within the community.

Joining us, you would be part of a multi skilled team which includes: Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Nurses and Assistant Social Care Practitioners. You will work closely with your team members, as well as with other organisations and agencies to provide an integrated service in order to support vulnerable adults and their carers in a community-based setting. This community-based role requires you to visit clients in their homes, as well as other settings such as residential care and nursing homes.

We invest in our staff by offering a large variety of training courses which will increase your knowledge to enable you to provide a service you can feel proud of. In addition to training, we are a supportive team who offer informal supervision on a daily basis and regular formal supervision. In addition to peer support, we provide the practical tools you need to manage your work. You will not be expected to work in isolation, however, we aim to equip you to work autonomously and with confidence.

In return for your skills and commitment, we offer you a competitive starting salary equivalent to that of a band 6 OT in a health care setting. For newly qualified OTs, we offer a supportive preceptorship programme. In addition, we are open to flexible working patterns which may support your work-life balance.

• Experience of working within a social care or community focussed multi-disciplinary setting that provides care, support and advice to meet peoples long term needs.
• Ability to complete person centred and proportionate OT assessments including moving and handling risk assessments.
• An in-depth knowledge of medical conditions and the likely impact on the individual and be able to demonstrable knowledge of the impact of long term disability on the individual, carer and family.
• Continuing professional development. Applicants must have and maintain current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and adhere to the HCPC standards for conduct, performance and ethics.
