Adults - Senior Occupational Therapist Assistant
The starting salary for this role is £31,262 per annum based on a 36-hour working week.
We are excited to be hiring a new Senior Occupational Therapy Assistant (SOTA) to join our fantastic Tandridge Locality Team. The team is based in Oxted, but following your probation period, there is also the opportunity to complete some of your working hours from home, or another appropriate location for a more flexible working pattern. We have a wealth of knowledge and varied experience within our team and are well known for the supportive approach we have towards our team members.
About the role
Within our team we work with adults with varying cognitive and physical impairments. This also includes working with paid and informal carers, family members, and multi-disciplinary professionals. Our day to day role is to assess people's functional ability within their home environment.
Senior Occupational Therapy Assistants hold a caseload of individuals and carers that require occupational therapy input. This is a frontline, preventative role, which may include assisting the team with:
- Assessing for and recommending basic daily living equipment to improve or maintain client's function, including assistive technology such as telecare.
- Demonstrating where appropriate the safe use of equipment and basic manual handling to individuals and carers.
- Assessing for and recommending minor adaptations to improve or maintain client's functional ability and promote independence.
- Assessing for, and recommending major adaptations and completing Disabled Facilities Grant recommendations, under guidance from an Occupational Therapist.
We also have a combined duty team of OTs and social care practitioners that manage all new enquiries and requests for assessment, as well as any new concerns for people we already support to ensure they are safe. The duty team is currently on rotation and most people cover this on weekly rota basis. There is always an Assistant Team Manager covering duty each day, to guide practice and decision making to ensure appropriate triage regarding the priority and complexity of cases.
You will receive training and support, as well as regular supervision, to support you to become a confident and competent practitioner, fulfilling the requirements of the role.
To be considered for shortlisting, you must display that you possess:
- Previous work as a SOTA or OTA
- Motivation for applying for a SOTA role in an Adult Social Care setting.
- Values and work ethics which underpins your approach to work.
The job advert closes at 23:59 on 26/11/2023.
An enhanced DBS 'Disclosure and Barring Service' check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children's and Adults' Barred List checks will be required for this role.
