About the Role

A new opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Investment and
Development service as a Graduate or Part Qualified Estates Surveyor. This role will work in close
collaboration with the Assets Manager on the operational management of the Council’s Corporate
Property portfolio, ensuring that statutory and other property obligations are met, leases and
tenants are managed, properties are maintained, council assets are protected and income is
maximised.

With the support of the Assets Manager, key responsibilities of the role include:

▪ managing and maintaining the Council’s asset management database, making changes, updates
and improvements where necessary and when requested.

▪ understanding the main terms and conditions of Leases, Licences and Heads of Terms for
Lettings, Lease Renewals and disposal and acquisition of land and/or property.

▪ assisting in the renewal of leases, lettings, rent reviews, licences for alterations and the sale &
purchase of land and property.

▪ monitoring the collection of rents, service charges and other income related to property.

▪ assisting in the delivery of the Council’s Asset Management Plan

▪ Supporting the development of best practice in conjunction with current legislation and
guidance to best manage our land and property holding.

 
About You
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Estate Management or equivalent RICS accredited academic
surveying qualification and be prepared to work towards becoming a corporate member of the
Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Academic experience across a range of disciplines
including lease negotiations, acquisitions, disposals, rent reviews and valuations is essential.

Previous experience of working in an asset management environment or Corporate Property
experience would be advantageous.
