The starting salary for this role is £3,205 per annum (FTE £19,233) for working 6 hours per week. The hours can vary depending on the branch you are working at but will be between 9am - 5pm.

We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic person with a love of stories and a passion for helping people, along with good communication skills, to join our team at Woking Library.

This role will involve supporting the library assistants you will be working with by helping customers in choosing and selecting books, shelving returned books, and helping with any activities planned during the working hours. You will also deliver children's activities including Rhymetimes and Craft sessions.

This role will be based at Woking Library, but you will work a rota which will include working at Addlestone Library and Knaphill Library. You may also on occasions be asked to work at West Byfleet Library. In the absence of another member of staff, you may for short periods of time work on your own to maintain the delivery of the service to the public.

If you thrive on variety, have excellent customer care and communication skills, and are willing to have a go at a wide range of tasks, you will find this an enjoyable and satisfying role.

We are looking for the following key skills from potential applicants:

  • Knowledge of using Microsoft Office and email
  • Ability to use initiative and work under pressure with accuracy 
  • A basic understanding of working in a library 
  • Ability to manage time and workload 
  • Positive working attitude.
