Let’s set the scene
Nothing quite grabs a lover of a marketing campaign like a good bit of storytelling. So maybe we should start with ours? If we were to write the prologue to Our Surrey Story, you’d see us describe the county of Surrey with how we’re traditionally known: beautiful countryside with areas of outstanding natural beauty, a home to one of England’s largest vineyards and a charm that evokes memories of Cameron Diaz running down snowy roads to her rent-a-cottage in The Holiday. We are so proud of our wonderfully green identity, however with talented, spirited people and transforming towns, we’re ready to celebrate so much more.
Like every author, we’re taking our audience on a journey. With each turn of the page we’re promoting the Surrey we live and breathe today; fantastic educational opportunities with cutting edge Universities, a thriving culture scene showcasing our pride for our history blended with our futuristic ideas and innovation across a wide-ranging cohort of businesses of all sizes and sectors.
What we love most about our story is that it’s written by those who are living it; our residents, our business leaders, our schools, our visitors and hopefully…you!
Over the past 12 months an extensive piece of work has been carried out alongside partners in Surrey, to develop a brand and toolkit as well as Our Surrey Story book – showcasing the many hidden treasures the county has to offer. Our Surrey Story has started to gain widespread recognition in terms of the potential it offers as an umbrella brand and we are now looking for someone to lead the next stage of this progressive work for Surrey.
Working as part of Surrey County Council's corporate communications team and building upon strong collaboration with influential businesses, groups, and projects such as Visit Surrey and Invest in Surrey, Our Surrey Story aims to highlight, support, and elevate their work. The success of this programme relies heavily on a strong network of partners continuing to feed into it, advocating and promoting it in their own spaces and across their networks. We believe strong partnership work will be key to successfully establishing it and bringing it to life.
Behind the scenes
We’re not looking for a protagonist because Our Surrey Story is a collaboration between stakeholders, with each providing a different piece of the jigsaw. The day-to-day role of the Senior Marketing Manager is to work with partners in a dynamic way to maximise the awareness, reach, impact and potential of the story and brand in support of the County’s shared ambitions and objectives for the economy, people and place. With a comprehensive strategic understanding of current opportunities and with an extensive network in place, you’ll be well placed to drive this programme of work forward whilst bringing others with you on that journey. Not forgetting your innovative marketing methods and best practice, which should complement your programme management skills.
