Throughout our Children’s Services improvement journey, the Performance Team has played an important role. In our latest inspection it was noted that: ‘They have a comprehensive and up-to-date range of performance reports’.
We’re looking for a Performance Officer to work within our Performance Team for children’s social care. The role is part of the Quality and Performance division which sits within the Children, Families and Lifelong Learning Directorate. The role reports to the Head of Performance Family Resilience and Safeguarding. We use the Liquidlogic suite for Children’s Services, Early Help and the Early Years and Education System (EYES) leading us towards a Single View of a Child’s information.
About the Role
Performance Officers are responsible for making sure the front-line service teams receive and have access to the information they need to sustain and further develop improvements. This will partly be through an existing reporting schedule and meetings with senior members of the service, as well as maintaining and building new data visualisation dashboards to help them access their own performance information.
The Performance Team also manage all statutory data returns including the annual Child in Need Census SSDA903, fostering returns and the quarterly ASGLB. Performance Officers take a leading role in the submission process and so a deep understanding of children’s social care, and knowledge and experience of the children in need census essential.
The work done so far has been challenging and varied. And none of that stops now! With invaluable support from the children’s services leadership team, the performance function is growing, taking on more work, with more responsibility and visibility.
It’s important to us that any applicant is able to evidence the Surrey values as well as:
- A robust understanding of children’s social care and its data
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders
- Good communication skills
- The ability to analyse data
- Experience working alongside senior managers to deliver successful outcomes linked to the Ofsted inspection framework
- Knowledge of the children in need census statutory return and compliance
- A technical understanding of Tableau and/or Liquid Logic’s LCS would be a bonus
