This role is offered as a 12-month fixed term contract or secondment opportunity.

About us:
We have high ambitions here at Surrey County Council – our aim is to be recognised, simply, as outstanding and we are in the midst of an organisation wide transformation that will help us get there. The challenge is huge and the opportunities, even greater.

About the role:

We are recruiting for an Insight & Intelligence Assistant to join our HR&OD Insight and Intelligence Team.

The focus of this role is to actively support the Lead of the team, plus 3 Advisors, and HR&OD colleagues in the ever-increasing need for insights and workforce analytics to inform strategic workforce planning and development across the council.

About you:

We are looking for a self-starter with superb organisational, communications, and people skills; with a strong data analytics background, orientated towards the success of the Insight & Intelligence Team and raise its profile.

You will be working closely with colleagues and partners to support the maintenance of quality standards in workforce data and HR systems. You will provide a first class and user-friendly HR insight and intelligence service, by using your skills in the areas of analysis, interpretation, judgement, and decision making. You will provide more than administrative support to management in the effective resolution and development of process/system issues.

Key competencies include:

  • Advanced IT systems, particularly proficient in Excel with a substantial and demonstrable experience in advanced formulas, pivot tables and graphs
  • Resourceful, organised and adaptable with highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to maintain business/database systems and manipulate data to provide clear and concise management information
  • Highly resilient, curious, and creative
  • Has a desire to work with colleagues across the function to improve practice
  • Advanced numerical, analytical, and organisational skills, with the ability to reprioritise projects and show confidence under pressure
  • Technical knowledge on workforce data and a sound understanding of relevant policies and practices within the HR&OD function to advise others as required.

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
