The salary for this position is Teachers’ Main Pay Scale (fringe): £29,344 - £40,083 per annum or Upper Pay Range: £41, 858 - £44, 919 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) + an SEN allowance of between £2,384 and £4,703 dependent on whether successful applicants hold the Mandatory Qualification for Teachers of Children and Young People with Hearing Impairment (MQHI).
This position is for 3 days (19.50 hours) per week and is based at Faimount House, Bull Hill, Leatherhead, KT22 7AH
About The Role
Advisory Teachers for Hearing Impairment/Advisory Teachers of the Deaf employed by Surrey County Council are attached to Physical and Sensory Support (PSS). This is a targeted specialist teaching service for defined and vulnerable Surrey children and young people (CYP) from 0 to 25 and their educational establishments (home being one of these if very early years). The service identifies and meets individual and organisational need, supports statutory duties, provision and achievement.
PSS operates in a dynamic, fast-paced, intricate interpersonal environment involving and supporting CYP with frequently a high level of complex needs. PSS also works with their families, schools and educational settings, including FE/HE, and with other professionals and organisations.
As an Advisory Teacher for Hearing Impairment/Advisory Teacher of the Deaf with PSS, you will be required to have extensive knowledge of special needs and disability and the provision to meet additional needs. You will be an experienced, qualified schoolteacher who has an enhanced level of verbal and written communication skills, IT knowledge and strong case-management skills in order to deliver an effective service to high-risk and high-need groups within extensive statutory frameworks.
