Senior Management Information Specialist

  • Employer: Surrey County Council
  • Reference: orbis/TP/145248/28446
  • Published: Mon 14/11/2022, 8:46 AM
  • Closing on: Sun 27/11/2022, 23:59 PM
  • Working Pattern: Full Time
  • Hours: 36.0 hours per week
  • Salary: £32,173 - £35,419 per annum
  • DBS Check: No
  • Location: Weybridge

This role is open to remote working meaning you aren't required in the office 5 days a week. We’re less about you driving to work and more about us collectively driving down our carbon footprint. We care about how you work rather than where you work; the people rather than the postcode. In support of our people and our greener futures strategies, we’d welcome a conversation with the successful candidate on what remote working may look like for you.

The starting salary for this position is £32,173 per annum based on a 36-hour working week.

This is a 6-month fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity.

Business Operations is focused on providing the best service and value to our customers. As the service continues to grow, it becomes increasingly important that we are carefully monitoring and stretching our performance to be the best in what we do.

A central aspect of our strategy is to constantly increase our operational excellence. To do this we need to utilise feedback from our customers and systems to target our areas of improvement; to be sure we are making the impact that matters. The role of Senior Management Information Specialist supports this strategy in the Management Information (MI) Team, which sits within our Data Operations Group.

The MI Team is pivotal in helping us maintain, create, and introduce the right measures and performance mechanisms to realise our business goals. Supported by dashboards, compiling performance metrics, in depth data knowledge and our customer feedback we aim to present information in a clear concise manner.

This is a very challenging but exciting time for Surrey, as we are just preparing to change our ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems. Our current team members are supporting this programme of work, which is why we now have a new opportunity for the right person to join our small, dynamic team.

To be equal to the challenge, you will need a proven track record in business analytics and ability to drive insight through data.

To be considered in the shortlisting process you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • In-depth understanding of Business Operations Systems and data, including good knowledge of ERP systems, data structures and integration points
  • Ability to interrogate data and visualise in line with customer requirements
  • Experience of analysing information to solve queries, either in relation to transactional processes or basic interpretation of policy
  • Experience of data collection and analysis of writing reports
  • Proven ability to prioritise high workloads
  • Excellent people skills

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
