Community Resilience and Data Officer
The starting salary for this role is £36,282 per annum for working 36 hours per week. This is a 12-month fixed term contract.
Surrey's Local Resilience Forum (SLRF) plays a key role in supporting emergency planning and preparedness activities across the county. SLRF is looking for someone driven and organised to fill the role of Community Resilience and Data Officer. This position will play a pivotal role in developing a deeper understanding of the communities we serve through available data to better assist planning assumptions, whilst continuing to deliver a high level of customer service to stakeholders.
The Community Resilience and Data Officer will work closely with multi-agency partners to support the partnership in developing the groundwork for future whole-of-society resilience work. In this role, you will be required to gain understanding of the current approaches towards community resilience. You will have the ability to analyse and interpret data to support planning assumptions across the partnership. This role will be a member of our newly formed SLRF Secretariat team.
This is a central government funded role; the contract length is 12-months initially, with the potential to extend for a further year.
About the role
The Community Resilience and Data Officer will be responsible for improving SLRF’s utilisation of data and intelligence available for community resilience. This will primarily include the creation of Community Impact Assessments, ensuring that the information is presented in a format appropriate for its intended audiences and is usable during emergencies. You will also work towards identifying and understanding where data is already captured, and how this can be utilised appropriately to the benefit of Surrey residents.
By keeping up to date with current and emerging issues around community resilience which may impact the SLRF or partners, the successful candidate will support the work of Surrey Prepared, and act in an advisory role around the community resilience strategy. You will attend meetings on behalf of the SLRF partnership and report back news, updates, case studies, learning and best practice.
Communication and relationship skills will be vital as you will be required to work with a number of partners across the SLRF. You will also be encouraged to connect with other Community Resilience officers across the country to enable the SLRF to tap into a wider knowledge base for best practice. The successful candidate must also be able to undertake any other reasonable tasks as requested by the LRF Manager.
Whilst officially based at Surrey County Council’s premises at Woodhatch in Reigate, this role will primarily involve remote working. However, there will be times when working in the office, at a SLRF member organisation’s premises, or other location is required.
