18 hours a week over 3 days: Wednesday to Friday

We are looking for a Leisure Development Manager (part-time maternity cover) to join the Leisure & Community Development Team at Spelthorne Borough Council.

As the joint Leisure Development Manager, you will contribute towards the strategic planning, research and delivery for the Council’s sport, health and active lifestyle initiatives.  This will include assessing and granting licences for tennis and fitness activities in parks and open spaces. You will monitor the Council’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy, engaging partners to report against the action plan. You will also jointly be responsible for monitoring the leisure operator contract.

It is an exciting time to join Spelthorne’s Leisure and Community Development Team. The Council is building a new leisure centre which is due to open in Spring 2024. This will be the first leisure facility with a complex facility mix to be eco-friendly and Passivhaus accredited. During the next 6 months the Leisure and Community Development Team will be working to procure a leisure operator to manage both new Spelthorne Leisure Centre and Sunbury Leisure Centre.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with experience of either sport or health development and or experience of leisure contract monitoring. Someone with a can-do attitude, willingness to work independently and as part of a team, with a passion for sport and health development.

You will be comfortable working with numbers and data in spreadsheets and databases and be able to translate the same into plain English for a variety of audiences. You will have direct line-management responsibility for the Leisure Development Officer whom you will be expected to coach and support.

This post will also be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

This post is identified as a hybrid post supporting both office and home working in line with Spelthorne Borough Council’s policy. The post holder will be required to attend the office in line with a rota and any service requirements.
