The starting salary for this role is £29,291 per annum, working 36 hours per week. Some weekend and out of hours working may be required but can be claimed back in time of in lieu. 

We have an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant and fast-moving team here at Surrey County Council as a Junior Communications Officer. We’re looking for someone who can work within the corporate Communications Team helping to create content and organise day-to-day channel management for Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, Military Covenant, Surrey Coroner's Service, and Surrey Prepared communications. Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, you will be working within a small team of four based at Woodhatch Place, Reigate.

You will support the Senior Communications Manager by playing a key role in the production of high-quality promotional material about a range of subjects, from preventing incidents in Surrey through to raising awareness of Military events.

You will be expected to travel across the county of Surrey to meet the demands of the role and therefore you will be able to work from any Surrey County Council or Fire and Rescue location. This is an agile position, however the team normally work in an office up to two times per week.

We’re looking for someone who will help us make a positive impact.

This post requires a highly creative individual who is able to work well as part of a team or on their own. A daily schedule will look like:

  • Meeting with crew at a fire station to create social media content in line with key themes
  • Virtual brainstorm with the communications and design team
  • Draft and schedule social media for a military awareness day such as Remembrance Day
  • Check, monitor and prepare statistics on a recent campaign to be presented back by the team to the service
  • Review the overarching social media calendar for Surrey Fire and Rescue Service
