  • Closing on: Mon 10/10/2022, 0:59 AM
  • Working Pattern: Full Time
  • Hours: 36.0 hours per week
  • Salary: £36,282 - £40,146 per annum
  • DBS Check: Yes
  • Location: Ashford

The starting salary for this role is £36,282 per annum for working 36 hours per week.

We are looking to recruit two Social Workers to be based at Spelthorne Locality Team, Ashford Centre, Stanwell Road, Ashford, Middlesex, TW15 3DU.

Applicants must hold a valid Driving Licence and have access to a car.

We are creating a new team to support our discharge to assess and recover, bed based approach. The team will be based at Spelthorne Locality Team, however, there will be an expectation that the team are embedded within the services. This is an exciting opportunity for people with great communication skills who can build relationships quickly to utilise and develop their own skills and expertise. You will have a particular interest and aptitude to work with people and families within an agreed timeframe in a strength-based way.

Working across Runnymede, Spelthorne, Woking and West Elmbridge, the North West Surrey Alliance have developed an innovative approach to support Discharge to Assess and aid recovery from Ashford and St Peter’s Hospital.

People who would benefit from bed based Reablement, rehabilitation or an opportunity to recover whilst waiting for their package of care to start will be offered a short stay in one of three local nursing homes or an independent step-down flat for up to 4 weeks before returning home. These have been developed in partnership with the private nursing home market and with District and Borough Council colleagues to enable people to recover and regain skills and return home.

We are recruiting to a small team of people to specifically support these individuals to return home following their short stay, to enable assessments, and to support planning to take place, building on a person’s own strengths with their family and support networks.

To be considered for one of these roles, you will need to be registered with Social Work England. As well as this, you will need to have completed your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) (please note this only applies to social workers who qualified in or after 2012). We recognise there will be exceptions to this so please speak to us if you are in any doubt.

You will be motivated and flexible, with high professional standards and sound knowledge and experience of current legislation, including the Care Act and the Mental Capacity Act and its application to practice in a social care setting. You will need to be confident in undertaking safeguarding enquiries, carrying out assessments within the community, and working with a diverse group of individuals and partner agencies. You will be able to communicate in a clear, fluent, concise and jargon-free way and in a courteous, calm and professional manner.

You will also be able to supervise less experienced members of staff within the team and support their development. In return for your skills, enthusiasm and commitment we will support you to take your career to the next level.

As part of our greener future strategies and our commitment to creating a healthy work-life balance, we welcome a conversation with you regarding our remote working options. Remote working to us is a balance of spending time in our communities, our offices and working remotely from home or wherever works best.

Surrey County Council are currently investing in and building a workforce that can proactively meet the demands and challenges facing Adult Social Care (ASC).
